American Giant is a San Francisco-based manufacturing company that makes American made clothing and sells direct to its customers exclusively through its website

"American Giant" was founded in February 2011 by Bayard Winthrop. Winthrop started the company to address what he saw as a lack of affordably priced high-quality American Made products in the market. He believed that by changing the economics of distribution and marketing, a business could re-deploy those savings into product made in America sold at mainstream prices. The company was named one of the 50 Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company in 2015 and cited for “breathing new life into U.S. US Manufacturing” Winthrop’s philosophy on the future of retail inspired him to co-author with Randy Komisar, I F*cking Love That Company, a book about the post-Amazon world of direct to consumer retail. The apparel industry faces overwhelming competition from abroad.
Some cheaper and faster. Some state of the art. If manufacturing is
going to survive here, we have to be smarter. Work harder. Create a
better product. We’ve assembled a supply chain of   people and
materials built to do just that.

At the time, the denim market had reached peak exposure with fast cycling trends; all the American-born heritage of the legendary workwear was lost. People longed for a denim line that was sophisticated with modern fits, but embodied all the authenticity and honesty of classic American style. Drawing upon the culture and roots of his hometown, Kansas City, Matt Baldwin set out to create inspired denim and apparel that maintains its history and casual American foundation using impeccable craftsmanship and design.

Obsessed with quality, they worked closely with a local family factory to create small batch production runs, crafting each piece using old school manufacturing techniques combined with modern technology.

Mason makes fashion less complicated, building each piece to last beyond a single season. Each design is a riff on an iconic American staple, combining to make a useful and effortless wardrobe. Consistency in fit, fabric and quality guide this hands on approach. Much of the product is made in the USA, where you can often find Sasha and Erik on the factory floor
